Commitment Info and Choices
Click here to choose your commitments from our list of selections in Google Forms. Before doing so, however, we encourage all members to review the following for commitment details and related reading:
o Vote. Vote in all local, state, and national elections to reflect the belief that political action to address environmental challenges is at least as important as any other political action.
o Power Down. Turn off all fuel-consuming devices when not in use or not needed. Turning off lights and idling engines and can be clear options, but have you considered phantom power? And what about your computer screens?
o Re-Use/Recycle. Choose lasting/refillable containers and bags. more info
o Buy Local. Purchase products—including food, clothing, etc.—from the most local producers. more info
o Plant Six. Plant (or have planted) at least six trees every year. more info
o Hang Laundry. Hang laundry to dry versus using a dryer. more info
o Limit Showertime. Limit showers to five minutes. more info
o Please Hold. Delay purchasing a new smart phone until doing so is necessary for it to function effectively. more info
o Plan Travel. Make minimizing your carbon footprint a factor in your travel decisions; consider carpooling, combining errands into one trip, and flying coach class. more info
o Beef Limits. Limit red meat consumption to one meal per week or choose from sustainable beef farming. more info1 more info2
o Recruit. Recruit at least one new member per month to the Earth Always community.
COMMITMENTS UNDER CONSIDERATION:
o Limiting thermostat setting to 68 degrees Fahrenheit in cold environments and to 75 degrees in warm environments.
